The sageo is the cord that is runing through the kurikata of the sword's saya and is usually used to keep the saya fixed in the belt when practising.

Green Sageo


The sageo is the cord which is attached to the saya (scabbard) of the katana of wakizashi. Historically, the uses were endless :

*The traditional kimono was often too lose for combat. A samurai could prepare for trouble by tying the sageo across the shoulders in a figure eight pattern. This tightens the kimono and shortens the sleeves.

*In a similar fashion, the sageo could be used as a cord for tying up prinoners.

*When in horseback, the sageo could be used to hand the sword upside down from the belt. This allowed it to be drawn in a wide arc.

Nobody like to receive a katana or any other product with a quality problem. A loose tsuba, seppa, chip in the saya,or any other damage. So before I ship your order , I personally check the quality of the product. Only if it’s 110% ok I will ship it to you.

90 Days return policy

Placing an order online is a great thing but sometimes you feel disappointed when you receive it . Although I’m doing my very best to provide you with a lot of detailed pictures and videos where possible, I do understand your concern . So if you don’t feel comfortable with your purchase just return it. Contact me prior to returning your order. This policy does not apply on any personal made katana or customized katana.

No charging before shipping

In case you pay with visa or mastercard, your card won’t be charged automatically when placing your order. Only when I finished the quality check and the courrier confirmed the pick up of your order, your card will be billed.

Want to customize this sword ?

If this standard model is almost what you’re looking for but it need a few personal tweaks and a 100% custom katana is not an option or needed, I can always give this baby a little ‘facelift’.

Rewrapping the tsuka with the material and or color of your choice, changing fuchi & kashira , tsuba, menuki and or seppa are all possible.

A rewrap of a standard size tsuka (katana) will run around 125 euro, including cotton ito.
