Even if you look very close, it’s very hard to see that this entire armor is made of (black laquered) Nerikawa or in plain English : Rawhide 🙂
Nerikawa was a material that was favoured by many of the higher ranking, wealthier, and thus often older members of the samurai class for it’s light weight, which allowed smiths to create helemts or armors that were quite comfortable to wear in comparison to those who were created from iron.
