This tsuba is showing a demon, better know as an “oni” in Japanese, crouched down and looking at mushrooms.
I can’t find much on the artist itself but what i’ve seen so far was quite stunning and it looks like he liked to use tsukashi techniques (not sure if you can call it that way) to ‘shape’ bodies or objects rather than just carving them.
