Tsuba with a Tiger and Dragon – Omori Teruhide

04-04b 04-04c

It’s friday, a bit tired after a very busy week and it’s not over yet so let me stop talking and just observe the details of this piece of art. How beautiful & detailed can a tsuba be made …

If somebody gives this a thumb down.. i will come after you, i will find you and i will…  😉

On the front of the tsuba, a lion crouches near bamboo growing by a stream while a storm rages overhead. On the back, a dragon emerges from clouds in the sky. This pairing of two of the strongest animals in Japanese tradition is a symbol of the power of religious faith (the dragon) over the temporal world (the tiger).
