Katana, a Cheap Functional Sword
This Kiku Katana is the entry
katana made by the Jewel Forge. It is a functional, reliable and cheap
sword !
When we hear the word ‘cheap’
it’s hard to believe you can buy a good entry level sword . And
we need to admit, it’s hard, very hard to find a descent sword on
the Chinese market today for a low price, even for us. On almost a weekly
base we do get offers from new manufacturers who are claiming to have
good forged and cheap katana.
Most of the times (if not all)
it’s a waist of time and money so about a half year ago we decided
to manufacturer our own ‘cheap’ katana with a forge we’re
working with for quit some time. It took us (and them) several months
to get this final sword but we’re certain about the quality and
the functionality of these cheap swords.
The blade of the Kiku katana
is made of 1060 spring steel and thru-hardened so no hamonline on this
one . But…the swords does have a very good balance and are very
strong & reliable cutters. They are available with or without hi.
If you would like to do heavy
cutting (bamboo,etc) we do recommend the katana without hi. The tsuka
is double pinned and does have a very tight wrap , which is imported Japanese
cotton by the way !

for a nice entry level katana or you don’t want to use your expensive
shinken for cutting exercises, this sword is one you can add to your “wane
