So why have the protein bars become so popular? Sit down and grab a cup of Joe, cause youre about to be discover the new and improved candy bar.
Protein bars started out as a bit of an accident with the power bar idea. It was because they were only carbs for people who need additional energy while theyre on the road. But who wants additional calories? you wondered.
Yea, well, some people who dont spend their time behind a desk or computer all the time spend more calories than they can eat! Thus, health professionals made the power bar. Yet nobody complained about its awful taste.
Now, there are dozens of protein bars and drinks everywhere there is food soldeven in convenience stores. Others are fakes though. Aside from tasting like crap, theyre also calorie loaded. So how will you know which ones are original? Whats the deal in learning?
Number one, you care because you can get a lot of protein from these things. Moreover, you can bring them and eat them anywhereon the bus, while driving, while working, everywhere! If you have these, its not possible that youll ever find yourself stuck somewhere and hungry. When youre full, youre more likely to control your food intake.
Secondly, protein meets our hunger much longer than carbohydrates (especially simple carbohydrates) do. All you need to do is find for a protein bar with a good composition of carbs, protein, and calories. A good rule of thumb is to get a bar that has 15 to 20 grams of protein for every 125 to 175 calories. This means that you get 40 grams worth of protein for an intake of perhaps 300 calories. With this proportion, you can go with your program of five small meals per day much easier.
So which are better? Well, you can go for Chef Jays and the like since they taste better than others. I also love the Detour bars. A very well-known protein bar right now is the Promax Bar. Of course, taste is all relative for each person, but I can tell you that anything with low carb on it probably contains sugar alcohol as an ingredientand tastes like crap. Still, try some of these.
