My personal opinion top

This practical pro katana, forged by Hanwei is a very functional samurai sword and battle ready.

The Practical Pro Samurai Katana of paul chen has an extended tsuka and a thicker & longer samurai blade compared to the other models in the practical series. The blade of tis functional sword is constructed from hand-forged, high-carbon steel and is differentially tempered using a traditional claying method which gives a very nice and prominent hamonline.

The Practical Pro has a fine polish if compared to the other katanas in the practical serie. The tsuka is wrapped with synthetic black leather for its gripping characteristics and is double-pegged for safety. The saya is done in a deep black lacquer with a black Japanese cotton sageo. The fittings (koshirae) are done in antiqued black iron.

The katana is stylized with a round Kuruma tsuba, which represents the "Wheel of Dharma," symbolizing the Buddhist concept of the Noble Eightfold Path. For those interested in an economical katana that can stand the rigors of heavy cutting (tameshigiri), the Practical Pro is an excellent choice.

I ordered the Practical Pro katana together with a double sword stand by Samurai Sword Shop.
They seem to have nice people working there cos they treat you like friends. I made that up drom the mails they send me about my order. Since the stand was temperarly not availeble, they nicely asked me weather they should send me the sword already and send the stand later or that I prefered them to send everything together a few days later.

Anyway, the sword was of fine quality, nicely put in a sword bag and was just like my expetations.
I'm sure I'll order my next katana by Samurai Sword Shop too.

Nobody like to receive a katana or any other product with a quality problem. A loose tsuba, seppa, chip in the saya,or any other damage. So before I ship your order , I personally check the quality of the product. Only if it’s 110% ok I will ship it to you.

Placing an order online is a great thing but sometimes you feel disappointed when you receive it . Although I’m doing my very best to provide you with a lot of detailed pictures and videos where possible, I do understand your concern . So if you don’t feel comfortable with your purchase just return it. Contact me prior to returning your order. This policy does not apply on any personal made katana or customized katana.

No charging before shipping

In case you pay with visa or mastercard, your card won’t be charged automatically when placing your order. Only when I finished the quality check and the courrier confirmed the pick up of your order, your card will be billed.

Want to customize this sword ?

If this standard model is almost what you’re looking for but it need a few personal tweaks and a 100% custom katana is not an option or needed, I can always give this baby a little ‘facelift’.

Rewrapping the tsuka with the material and or color of your choice, changing fuchi & kashira , tsuba, menuki and or seppa are all possible.

A rewrap of a standard size tsuka (katana) will run around 125 euro, including cotton ito.
