Huanuo Samurai Sword - handforged & folded This samurai sword of the Huanuo Forge is handforged & folded in a traditional way. In ancient Japan, the folding process was used to control the uniformity of the steel and carbon content within the blade. These day's, the quality of the steel is of such a high level that folding the blade isn't really necessary anymore. It's still done to keep the tradition a live but it doesn't make a blade stronger or superior than a monosteel katana. In fact, if a folded blade doesn't get a proper heat treatment, it will result in a softer edge than a monosteel sword. The blade of ths Huanio katana is forge-folded eight to ten times, differentially tempered with an edge hardness of 58-60 HRC and a back hardness of 40 HRC.The blades are hybride polished to a brilliant finish with a prominent hada and hamonline.
