Shirasaya sword - monosteel
The word "shirasaya" is literally translated as "White Scabbard".
A shirasaya is mostly used as a 'storage' place for a Japanese sword or to display
the blade.
This kind of sword configurations are not intended to use for practising or
tameshigiri ! The lack of the tsuba, which is needed to give the sword a good
balance and prevent your hand to slide down to the blade, and the lack of a
good descent handle wrapping (tsukamaki) make it too hard and dangerous to really
use this sword in your dojo.
This shirasay sword is hand-forged by the Huanuo forge (T10 steel) and differentially
hardened. If you like to build your own katana, this is the ideal solution for
you.
